With the announcement of their “GT40” concept car at the North American International Auto Show, the heritage-based supercar design produced public anticipation that was nothing short of staggering. Pulling from the design language from their Le Mans-winning Ford GT40s, Ford was able to place their modern supercar into production and became one of the most powerful Ford vehicles offered. Sleek, powerful, and fast, its timeless design was undeniably linked to the 4-time winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Even to this day, the Ford GT is still regarded as one of the best modern interpretations of a historic race car for the road. The Ford GT took numerous design elements from the original race cars, such as the headlights, the swooping rear clamshell, doors with roof cutouts, the motorsports-inspired seats and the simple yet-elegant 6-speed shifter. The dash is centered around the driver, recreating the almost cockpit-like experience of the original Le Mans racers, tartan in design but with all the information you might need. The supercharger is clearly visible in the rear-view mirror (and heard) with the entire 550 horsepower engine directly behind the seats, with the exhaust note piped through dual central-exit pipes, giving both the driver and passenger a taste of what driving a real GT40 might have felt like. Other improvements for the modern age included an aluminum space frame for reduced weight, Produced for only two years, the Ford GT is an exclusive piece of Ford history that has only elevated in popularity and value since its debut. This 2006 Ford GT was one of just 238 examples built in MK II Black for the 2006 model year, the final year of production.

Additional Details

It was spec’d with the rare black exterior with stripe delete from the factory, and optioned with the McIntosh Audio System and forged BBS alloy wheels. A true stealth specification, with the MK II black exterior paired with black brake calipers is one of the best color specifications that a Ford GT could have. First delivered on July 6th, 2006 in California, the GT has covered 4,531 miles, or just 226 miles per year. Upon arriving at Canepa for the 1st time in 2023, the car was thoroughly looked over and inspected via the “Canepa Difference” process. Canepa upgraded the tire size from the standard 265 fronts and 315 rears to Bridgestone tires in 265 and 345 front and rear, respectively. This noticeable upgrade improves not only the handling and ride quality, but with a superior tire compound. In just a month the Ford GT found its way to a new caretaker, and after 3 years the car has now returned in the exact condition that it left. Excellent driving dynamics, a design that has aged gracefully, and an icon that has only grown in popularity since its debut, this 2006 Ford GT is the answer for an enduring supercar with stealth, until you flatten the accelerator and leave other drivers behind.
